Request for Qualifications LARGE-SCALE OUTDOOR PROJECT: CONSOLIDATED RENTAL AGENCY COMPLEX (CONRAC) |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority and Arts at the Airport invite individual artists or teams of artists to submit their qualifications to design, fabricate and install a significant public artwork to be integrated into the Nashville International Airport’s Consolidated Rental Agency Complex (CONRAC). Artists must comply with the submittal requirements described in this Request for Qualifications to be considered. Description of SiteThis piece will be a landmark for the city of Nashville. A large percentage of the more than 16 million people to visit the Airport each year will see this as they enter the property and approach the Terminal. The 29 ft. tall by 19 ft., 9.5 in. wide concrete panels surrounding a helical ramp attached to the new Rental Car Facility will be the location for the art. The art can utilize a minimum of three panels and up to eight. The panels are made of precast concrete and include reveals. This area is a grand landscape for an integrated work of art that should "wow" visitors, provide a sense of our city’s growing cosmopolitan feel and retain a feeling of warmth and welcome. It should be a dynamic, dramatic and an engaging piece of work that reminds visitors where they are, while also creating a sense of wonder, imagination and creativity. The artist for this project will consider the character of the surrounding facilities and respond to the Airport’s specific design. The range of space available at this location provides design flexibility and encourages the use of any media appropriate for the site. Lighting should be included within the artists’ budget and specifications must be included in the design proposal. Project BudgetThe project budget is not to exceed $400,000. EligibilityProfessional artists who are legally qualified to work in the United States are eligible to apply. Current Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority employees, commissioners, Arts at the Airport Board members and their immediate family members may not apply. Application Requirements/DeadlineAll applications must be submitted via www.callforentry.org. Submissions must be received as a complete application no later than midnight (Central Standard Time) on May 21, 2010. No applications will be accepted after the deadline.
