Eric Oglander is a 21-year-old mixed media artist residing in Nashville. Growing up, he was surrounded by the creative process. With his mother and father both being fine artists, he naturally started creating, spending much of his time drawing and tinkering with various found objects. He remembers his mom telling him that he should never be bored and encouraging him to be creative. It wasn’t until his junior year of high school that he began to see art as a future career.
Eric has since been featured in seven gallery shows and five juried shows. His work has changed significantly over the years, and he’s currently working with photo transfers, white paint, line work and found objects.
“I never want art to become a monotonous process that appeases buyers but lacks soul. It must remain a learning experience.” To make sure of this, Eric attended a three-month internship at Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass Village, Colo., in 2007 and spent four months in Mexico focusing on his work. |

Artist Statement
“My work is constantly becoming something new. A line can usually not be drawn from one of my works to the other. I will sometimes begin a piece with an idea in mind but it rarely holds on to the intended meaning. These pieces were created with a focus on beauty and balance. That doesn’t mean that you or I won’t find meaning behind the shapes, symbols, lines and colors. Approach them with an open mind and take what you will.” |
