Born in Louisville, KY, and raised in Elizabethtown, KY, James Pearson was encouraged by his mother and maternal grandmother to reach beyond the borders in which he lived. Thanks in part to a library card and an interest in music, his daily fabric was soon full of discovery and dreams. Pearson credits his artistic success to his tendency to work in-dependently and to the positive influences of his high school teachers. With a passionate balance of musical and artistic talent, Music City and TAG Art Gallery have been the perfect fit for Pearson’s artistic renderings.

Artist Statement
“Initially, I pursued portraits and figurative studies mostly in pastel with only brief attempts at painting. I began studying painting and making art again after my wife and I moved to Boise, ID. I've always been a big believer in applying ideas from one discipline to another. In my paintings now, I see the rhythm, repetition, melody and harmony in their compositions."
