Born and raised in Nashville: Music City, Jeremy Cowart has been in and around the music and entertainment industry his whole life. Shortly after graduating college with a degree in graphic design, Cowart founded his own design company, Pixelgrazer, and began designing web sites and CD packaging for many well-known record labels. He eventually began photographing the artists he was designing for and is currently shooting full-time. In contrast, he began taking photos of people in Africa when given the opportunity to travel there with Blood:Water Mission, a nonprofit organization.

  Artist Statement
“I was blown away by the people of Africa. I hope my work portrays them as who they are – smart, hard-working individuals who are thriving with hope under tough circumstances. Their world is such a strikingly refreshing and genuine contrast to the entertainment-driven culture that we live in.”
