Kim Beck received her Master of Fine Arts degree from the Rhode Island School of Design and a Bachelor of Arts from Brandeis University. She has exhibited in New York at Printed Matter, Smack Mellon and Plane Space, as well as at Raid Projects in Los Angeles, Hallwalls in Buffalo, the Denver Art Museum and the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing. Her recent solo show at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts was reviewed in Art in America magazine. She has received Pollock-Krasner and Thomas J. Watson Fellowships, grants from NYSCA and the Tennessee Arts Commission, and held residencies at ISCP-NYC, Cité Internationale des Arts Paris Vermont Studio Center, VCCA, and The College of Fine Arts Sidney. She is currently in residency at Artists Image Resource with the support of the Heinz Creative Heights program. In addition, she is an Associate Professor of Art at Carnegie Mellon University.

  Artist Statement
“Drawing with images of architecture and landscape, I make works that survey peripheral spaces. Engaging the bewildering sculptural aspects of the American built environment, my work shares the emptiness and strangeness of overlooked places.”
