  Rick Lobdell - Ticketing Level

Rick Lobdell was born and raised in northeast Ohio and graduated from Mount Union College with a Bachelor of Arts in both Fine Art and Philosophy.  Following graduation he traveled to Savannah, Georgia where he received his Master of Fine Arts in Painting from The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD).  During his time in Savannah, he also became a professional ballroom dancer and worked on many theatrical shows while teaching dance for SCAD.  For the last three years, he has been in Nashville focusing on painting.

The paintings Lobdell is currently making are a mixture of theatrical stage design, whimsical dance movement and the absurdities he finds in landscapes. He chooses the colors in his paintings carefully using a scientific chart of color and has investigated the theory of three-dimensionality based on juxtaposition of color values, sometimes creating forms that are revealed only through 3-D glasses. He does not see the same colors as everyone else, but manages to create fantastic landscapes that are born in his imagination.
