  Artist's Statement
“I have always been interested in the territory of dreams, but especially in dreams of flying. I used these dream experiences to influence a series of earlier paintings: Awaken To Me, Elizabeth, Flight of Passage, Ceres, Primavera and Revenant. For the Flying Solo exhibition at the Nashville International Airport, I return to some of these ideas in Lauren, Flying Solo. The figure is based on that of the young woman in Primavera, and as such, celebrates not just flying but rebirth and joy.”
