Bruce Childs' piece

Bruce Childs is a printmaker living and working in Clarksville, TN. He is a graduate of Massachusetts College of Art and the State University of New York in Buffalo. Childs is a professor of printmaking at Austin Peay State University. His work has been exhibited by various international and national museums, galleries and is included in many private collections. Recent exhibitions of his work include such venues as the Downtown Arts Cooperative Gallery in Clarksville, the Kunstmuseum in Rhein, Switzerland and the Southern Graphics Council in Boston, MA.

Shortly after arriving in Clarksville and the Austin Peay State University community, Childs befriended Mrs. Ray Patterson, or Dollie, a Bon Aqua farmer and mother of two and subject of his installation entitled Portrait of Dolly Patterson. For more than 20 years, Childs has been visiting, photographing and filming Dollie, her farm and her colorful life. The photographic series creates a visual narrative of theses visits to familiar and beautiful Tennessee people, places and things.
