Remembering 2011
As we begin a new year, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on the great accomplishments we achieved in 2011. It has been more than a decade since the Sept. 11 attacks on our country, which forever changed the aviation and airport industries. I think the successes of 2011 show our resilience and ability to overcome and innovate after such challenging times.

CONRAC Grand OpeningCONRAC Grand Opening
On Nov. 16, the MNAA and its partner rental car agencies celebrated the grand opening of the new consolidated rental car facility. Community members, the mayor, business partners and guests enjoyed live music and a special cake in the shape of the CONRAC facility at the event, which was held in the facility’s atrium. Guests heard remarks from Raul Regalado, MNAA Board of Commissioners Vice Chairwoman Juli Mosley, Mayor Karl Dean and Donald Burgner with Thrifty Car Rental. Read more.


BNA Wins Award for Top Concessions Program in North AmericaBNA Wins Award for Top Concessions Program in North America
The Nashville International Airport (BNA) has been recognized by the Airports Council International–North America (ACI–NA) as the Richard A. Griesbach Award of Excellence winner in the 2011 Airport Concessions Contest. The ACI–NA Excellence in Concessions Contest, which began in 1998, honors the top airport concessions program in various categories, including the overall award, the Richard A. Griesbach Award of Excellence.

Arts at the Airport Unveils Unique, Kinetic Public Art
Passengers and guests at BNA can now enjoy a new public art installation, thanks to the Arts at the Airport program. The artwork, titled “Wind Reeds,” features hundreds of hinged aluminum elements that sway with the wind on the exterior of BNA’s new rental car facility. The art installation was designed by world-renowned artist Ned Kahn and officially opened with the rental car facility on Nov. 1.

Trudy CarsonTrudy Carson Joins as New Air Service Development Manager
Trudy Carson joined the MNAA in October 2011 as the air service development manager. Carson has more than 17 years of experience in airport service marketing and the airport industry.
