About Riverbanks
The artist states, “I was walking along a riverbank feeling the rocks beneath my feet. The noise of these stones striking against each other on the bank sounded almost like angry voices, despite the peaceful setting. This made me ponder the relationships among the rocks, water, and us.” “Even in a shallow stream, rocks are nudged along by swiftly flowing water. Remaining in one place takes effort. As the stones hold their ground, they are eroded. They become smaller and smaller. Where did they begin their journey and how big were they then? Where will they be eventually? As I looked down at these stones, it seemed as if each had its own identity. Like us, each has a strong connection to the others around it.”
