International Nashville, Captured by the Community

International Nashville has been captured in a collection of photographs submitted by residents of Middle Tennessee in a photo competition sponsored by Conexión Américas and Southwest Airlines. The competition was launched in the summer of 2012. What came back was a beautiful reflection of Nashville’s many faces and facets – men, women and children from places like Iraq, Somalia and Mexico at work, at play and in community.

The 109 images were submitted via the nonprofit organization’s Facebook page. The photos celebrated culture, the strength of cross-cultural friendships, the spirit of American entrepreneurship and the rejoicing of freedom and opportunity in a new land. Thirty-four photographs were selected by four judges from the community to be a part of this exhibit. Three of those images were selected as first-place winners. Conexión Américas assists Latino families in Middle Tennessee to achieve their American Dream through programs focused on social, economic and civic integration. For more information, visit:

Arts at the Airport receives funding for the visual arts from the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA) and the Tennessee Arts Commission (TAC).
