Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary (OFSDS) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit Forever Foster Home-based sanctuary in beautiful Mount Juliet, Tenn. The sanctuary generally houses approximately 40– 45 senior dogs and more than 130 in Forever Foster Homes. While providing lifetime homes for senior dogs rescued from high-kill shelters in Middle Tennessee, OFSDS strives to raise awareness of the joys and challenges of living with older dogs. Senior dogs, especially those with medical problems or disabilities, face a much greater chance of euthanasia at shelters than young dogs because it’s difficult to find adopters for them due to their shorter life expectancy and unknown veterinary costs. Most of these wonderful dogs will be able to live happily with a good quality of life if given a chance. They make wonderful companions because they are mature, calm and loving.

About the Exhibit
Like senior dogs, art brings joy into our lives, and OFSDS is pleased to share these statues from the 3rd Annual “Dog Art for Old Friends” fundraiser. Local, national, and international artists and celebrities have volunteered to design dog statues that will be auctioned online with net proceeds used to care for the seniors at the sanctuary and in Forever Foster Homes. Celebrities who have participated include Sheryl Crow, Ashley Judd, Barbara Mandrell, Steve Wariner and Mike Wolfe.
