The School of Art, Craft
& Design at Tennessee Tech
a Bachelor of Fine Art in eight areas
including glass, metal, clay, fiber, wood,
digital design, painting
and art education. The mission of the
School of Art, Craft
& Design is to prepare Bachelor of Fine
Arts majors for careers
in visual art studios, design practice
and art education.
The School operates on
both the main campus of TTU in
Cookeville, and at its renowned
satellite campus in Smithville,
at the Appalachian
Center for Craft, which is a unique
educational facility and
cultural center combining teaching,
outreach and crafts marketing operating
all in partnership.
The Craft Center opened
in 1979, but shortly after became
a division of Tennessee
Tech University. The name, School
of Art, Craft &
Design, reflects the interdisciplinary direction
and diverse options of
all these elements working together.
Arts at the Airport receives funding for the visual arts from the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA) and the Tennessee Arts Commission (TAC).
