The studios of Teresa Hays and Vickie Vipperman are miles apart, but their love of color, textiles, design and craftsmanship are at the heart of what they make and what unites them. Color is the primary element used by both Hays and Vipperman as they create one-of-a-kind clothing.
Textile artist Teresa Hays has been dyeing, marbling, painting and printing fabric full-time since 1989. After maintaining a marbling production studio for almost 30 years, Hays' current studio work is focused on dyeing fabric and exploring non-traditional silkscreening methods. Hays is a member of the Tennessee Craft and Southern Highland Craft Guild. She is represented by The Craft Gallery at the Appalachian Center for Crafts in Smithville, Tenn., and Shimai Gallery of Contemporary Craft in Nashville.
Vickie Vipperman is a weaver and dyer of contemporary textiles used to construct clothing and accessories. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in fabric design from the University of Georgia. Vipperman is a juried member of the Southern Highlands Craft Guild and Piedmont Craftsmen, in addition to memberships in multiple art organizations including Tennessee Craft. She exhibits wearable art in regional galleries throughout the Southeast and is represented locally by Shimai Gallery of Contemporary Craft in Nashville.
