Department of Graphic Design and Illustration
With more than 130 years of continuous educational service, Watkins College of Art operates as an independent, nonprofit, nationally accredited college of visual arts. The school¹s 73,000 square-foot
academic, community, and art-making facility, two state-of-the-art residence halls and 13 acres of land, position the college as a leader in visual arts education. Fulfilling the legacy of its founder, the school's faculty, students and alumni continue to shape and positively influence the cultural horizon and economy of the community as they define the role of art, design, film and artists in the 21st century.
About Ethos, Pathos, Logos
This exhibition of student and alumni work is emblematic of the design thinking, graphic wit, and optimism of the college's award-winning Department of Graphic Design and Illustration. "Ethos, Pathos, Logos" is a collection of recent works infused with Aristotle¹s three artistic proofs: ethics, emotion and logic, each piece designed to inform and delight. The collection includes student projects that have received top honors from national and international design competitions, and contains published client work created by students during design partnerships formed at Watkins. Further proof of the strength of the department is the brilliant professional work of its alumni, reflecting excellence in contemporary branding/identity, packaging, typography, and socially responsible design.
